Cultivating Compassion Skills [Exercise]

Welcome to the Cultivating Compassion Skills Exercise!
This exercise, shared by Magdalena Helander during the Well-being and Mindfulness Summit in Kyoto on Mar 2024, is designed to help individuals develop their compassion capabilities with a thoughtful exploration of their inner qualities and skills related to compassion. Through an imagery-based approach, participants are encouraged to engage with the exercise in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them.

During the exercise, individuals are invited to reflect on six inner compassion qualities: caring, wisdom, strength, acceptance, commitment, and courage. As part of the process, participants are encouraged to draw an image representing each quality. This visual component serves as a powerful reminder of what each quality means to them personally. Sharing these drawings with others can provide valuable insights and foster a deeper understanding of how each individual can find and develop these qualities within themselves.

This download material serves as a script for you to facilitate deep reflection and personal discovery of individuals. It can be used by practitioners, educators, facilitators and anyone else interested in fostering compassion within themselves and others.
